Meeting of the Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences – March 1, 2022

The program of the meeting included:

- the issue of support for the victims of the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine - presentation by prof.dr hab. Paweł Próchniak

- information about the Polish Studies Congress (March 23-25 online) - presentation by Prof. Ewa Paczoska

- the issue of the Committee's opinion on donating the codex "Epistola de laudibus augustae bibliothecae atque libri quatuor versibus scripti eodem argumento ad serenissimum Mathiam Corvinum Panoniae regem" to the Hungarian authorities

- the issue of the Committee's support for  the resolution on changing the rules concerning public education  in minority languages in Poland.

Meeting of the Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences – January 12, 2021

The meeting's agenda included two points:
- the issue of the  Committee's opinion on the draft regulation "Development of scientific journals" sent for pre-consultation by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education
- the issue of the Committee's support for the "Opinion of the Committee of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences on the draft regulation "Development of scientific journals" of January 11, 2021.

After a long discussion the Commitee decided to support the opinion of the Committee of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Meeting of the Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences – May 17, 2021

(extraordinary meeting) 

The meeting's agenda included two main points:

- the need to issue an opinion  on the draft law amending the Law on Higher Education and Science. 

- the discussion on the Committee's support for the position of Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP) on the draft law amendment, which introduces the guarantee of respecting the freedom of teaching, freedom of speech and scientific research. 

Meeting of the Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences –September 28, 2021

The meeting's agenda included three points:

-the organization of the Congress of the  V Polish Language Didactic and VII Congress of Polish Studies 

-voting on the Committee's opinion on the candidates for correspondent members of PAN

-the KNoL award. 

Meeting of the Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences- October 12, 2021

The discussion was focused on the issues  related to the regulations of the KNoL award.

Meeting of the Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences- December 7, 2021

The meeting's agenda included three main points:

-a report on the VII Congress of Polish Studies  (25-27 June 2021)

-discussion on the current draft of the amendment of the Act on the Polish Academy of Sciences

-discussion about the evaluation of the draft law amending the Law on Higher Education and Science and the Law Introducing the Law on Higher Education and Science, containing proposed solutions to mitigate the effects of the first evaluation of the quality of scientific activity.

The meeting's agenda icluded the election of the chair and the Presidium of the Committee.

Meeting of the Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences – May 19, 2020 

The meeting's agenda included three main points:

- the question of adopting new regulations of the Committee on Literary Studies
- the election of experts  to the Committee

- establishing of commissions of the  Committee. The following commissions were established: Editorial  Commission,  Commission of Education, Commission of University Education (a new commission, separated from the Commission of Education), Commission of Polish Studies Abroad, and Commission for Prizes.

The discussion focused mainly on inner problems of the Committee's activities. 

Meeting of the Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences – December 15, 2020 

The discussion focused on the Project of the State Science Policy prepared by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and sent for pre-consultation.The next point of the meeting was the problem of the list of scientific journals and publications.

The discussion focused on the Extraordinary Congress of Humanists organised on 26 January in Warsaw. 

Another item on the agenda was the issue of the Committee's recommendation for the Nobel Prize in Literature. The Wiesław Myśliwski's candidacy was approved.

The discussion focused on implementing procedures to organize, first, a discussion panel on the humanities involving representatives of the humanities and social sciences, and, secondly, to organize the Congress on Teaching Polish Studies, Cracow, November 20-23, 2013.

Meeting of the Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences – March 12, 2013

Prof. Piotr Salwa and Prof. Grażyna Borkowska were recommended for membership in the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Discussion focused primarily on the system of journal rating and its inadequacy for the humanities. Several problems were identified, including the inadequacy of the ERIH list, the inadequacy of some of the criteria for publications in the field of the humanities, omissions of important journals in current ratings, privileging publications in English over those in Polish, and privileging publications in journals over books and articles in books.

A need to develop more adequate criteria for publication rating was formulated.

Meeting of the Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences – May 14, 2013

The meeting was devoted to a further discussion of the issues of journal rating within humanities and to the organization of the Cracow Congress.

Prof. Krzysztof Kłosiński presented a project proposing new criteria of journal rating and assessment. The project was devised by a task team for the assessment of humanities journals chaired by prof. Krzsztof Mikulski.

A team for the assessment of literary journals was formed within the Committee, including Prof. Anna Łebkowska (Chair), prof. Wojciech Kalaga, Prof. Lech Kolago, Prof. Anna Czabanowska-Wróbel, Prof. Anna Nowicka-Jeżowa, Prof. Krzysztof Kłosiński.

Meeting of the Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences – December 10, 2013

Following a discussion, the Committee decided to issue recommendations for Tadeusz Różewicz and Adam Zagajewski for the Nobel Prize in 2014.

Prof. Anna Janus-Sitarz presented a detailed report on the Congress on Teaching Polish Studies, which took place in Cracow, November 20-23, and gathered 500 participants, including 184 panelists and speakers. It was emphasised that the Congress was extremely popular among secondary school teachers, who participated in numerous workshops. In conclusion, postulates formulated by the Congress participants were communicated to the Committee.

Prof. Krzysztof Kłosiński reported on further progress in the activities of the Team for the Assessment of Journals in the Humanities and Social Sciences. In the following discussion, the proposals of the Team were debated and new solutions for particular issues were suggested.
